“The need to expand our warehouse had been growing for some time. Over the past five years, the company’s sales volumes have doubled, and inventory levels have grown proportionally. The central warehouse also serves our Latvian and Estonian branches, which are steadily expanding, as well as a growing number of sales channels and active customers. As a result, a larger and more spacious warehouse became essential in order to meet increasing demand efficiently,” says Andrius Zareckis, CEO of UAB Lemona.
The new warehouse location is not only strategically convenient, but also allows a wider range of services to be offered in one place. Situated in the Kaunas LEZ, the warehouse will also provide warranty services on the same premises, ensuring smoother, faster and uninterrupted customer service.
An additional 864 square metres of storage space opens the door to new product lines and allows the company to maintain larger stock levels of its best-selling, proven products. These changes will significantly enhance the customer experience, enabling customers to choose from a broader assortment and receive goods faster and in larger quantities than before.
The new warehouse will also enable more efficient process management, faster operations and optimisation of redundant processes that were previously necessary due to limited space. To maximise the potential of the new premises, workstations and equipment will be upgraded to support higher productivity and speed.
“Our company constantly monitors what is happening beyond its own boundaries. We cannot remain indifferent when seeing recent large-scale cyberattacks targeting not only organisations critical to Lithuania’s infrastructure, but also businesses similar to ours. After listening to the advice of our experienced IT team, we decided not to wait until we faced such incidents ourselves and suffered serious losses. As a result, we began implementing cybersecurity tools at the beginning of this year,” says A. Zareckis.
The rise in these risks has also been influenced by changes in working habits during the pandemic – the shift to hybrid and remote work created a new challenge: ensuring the protection of company data regardless of employees’ locations.
According to the head of Lemona Electronics, while it is almost impossible to achieve absolute protection against cyber threats, resilience can only be strengthened through proactive measures.
“A cybersecurity solution can help us understand whether we have attracted unwanted attention, whether anyone is accessing our data without authorisation, and whether employees are handling data securely,” explains A. Zareckis.
Vilius Benetis, Director of NRD Cyber Security – a cybersecurity consulting, services and technology company – notes that the use of measures such as cybersecurity event monitoring reflects a mature approach to cybersecurity:
“E-commerce organisations request and process sensitive data, such as personal identification or financial information, and therefore must pay particular attention to strengthening cyber resilience. While it is impossible to completely eliminate the risk of cyberattacks, it can be minimised through proper hygiene, appropriate tools and processes, and continuous monitoring and analysis of cybersecurity incidents. It is encouraging to see that Lemona Electronics places strong emphasis on cybersecurity as part of its growth strategy.”
This year, the company has increased its training budget threefold. The budget is dedicated not only to developing employees’ professional and technical competencies in electronics, but also to enhancing leadership skills, emotional awareness and problem-solving abilities. According to the CEO, a well-rounded approach to team development better prepares employees to respond effectively to new challenges, analyse situations and identify the most appropriate solutions.
“We have declared this year the year of the learning organisation. We believe that only a learning team can respond most effectively and rapidly to change and emerging challenges,” says A. Zareckis.
As businesses increasingly face labour shortages, Lemona Electronics’ approach helps mitigate this challenge while significantly boosting employee motivation. A. Zareckis notes that such investments directly correlate not only with higher employee satisfaction and engagement, but also with tangible business results.
“We measure team engagement every year and are pleased to see it steadily increasing. This confirms that we are moving in the right direction and using our resources and energy wisely. It is important to us that every team member understands, even before joining, that professionalism, team spirit and personal motivation are essential qualities that drive growth. We strive to create conditions and opportunities for continuous development and career progression – each year, more than 10% of our employees are promoted or expand their roles. Our goal is to ensure that our team consists of professionals with ambition and a strong desire for continuous improvement,” says A. Zareckis.
Lemona Electronics continues to grow steadily. Alongside the expansion of its product range, the company is also growing a professional and committed team. The company has no intention of slowing down – following the implementation of planned investment projects, Lemona Electronics expects turnover to grow by 10% in 2024. At the same time, the company plans to place even greater emphasis on sustainable solutions, invest further in employee development and wellbeing, and continue its long-standing tradition of contributing to educational initiatives that benefit society.
