Assessment of readiness for financial CSIRT build-up at the Reserve Bank of Malawi (on-going)
Challenge
The Reserve Bank of Malawi, as a Regulator of Financial Institutions, is mandated to ensure that the financial sector is adequately prepared for cyber-attacks, and that sound principles for cyber resilience, are developed and supported by the industry specific coordination centre for cyber knowledge-sharing to limit cyber threats. Therefore, the Bank is mandated to coordinate the formulation of the Financial Sector Emergency Response Team.
The Reserve Bank of Malawi expressed its interest in performing an assessment of readiness of the Bank for the establishment of a Financial Sector Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT).
Solution
NRD Cyber Security performed CSIRT/SOC Assessment for Readiness services. The main results of the project were as follows:
- The identification of the desired Malawi finCSIRT structure.
- The preparation of a preliminary Mandate.
- The preparation of a High-level Roadmap and Budget.
- The preparation of detailed Requirements for the Design Phase.
